Microsoft® Visual Basic® FUNdamentals is a fun, new approach to teaching one of the most widely used programming languages in the world. This book, designed for use in a beginning course at the high school or college level, uses the fundamentals of the Visual Basic programming language to solve problems. In each chapter, concepts are introduced first. They are then applied to specific problems, with emphasis on how the language features can translate the concepts into instructions the computer can follow. The chapter projects, which are a combination of business-related projects (such as checkbook record storage) and entertainment projects (such as tic tac toe), all require knowledge, planning, and testing- challenging students' critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Text Features:
Visual Basic Objects - Important Visual Basic objects such as forms, buttons, text boxes, label boxes, and picture boxes are covered in depth.
Programming Concepts - Major programming concepts such as repetition, decision structures, and sequential processing are taught with real world examples. There is a strong emphasis on comments and good programming style throughout the book.
Practical Examples - Each major topic includes a hands-on example that demonstrates the principles involved with an opportunity for students to experiment further.
Chapter Summary - Each chapter concludes with a summary of important topics, definitions of new vocabulary words, and a set of review questions.
Chapter Projects - Each chapter includes a number of interesting projects that give students the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the material in the chapter. Chapter 12 includes an additional 18 projects that may be used as extra credit or semester review projects.
Games Programming - Chapter 10 teaches a number of advanced programming concepts in the form of game programs that will invite students to stretch their knowledge and programming skills. This chapter includes major sections on graphics and animations.
Teacher's Manual - The supplementary Teacher's Manual includes teaching suggestions, answers to exercises and review questions, and teaching suggestions, possible solutions, and evaluation strategies for projects. A Solutions Disk included in the Teacher's Manual provides program solutions to all projects and chapter exercises.
